This fall, the Valatie Free Library is again taking part in the Great Give Back, an annual drive which features libraries across New York State working with their communities to help community members. This year, the Columbia County Libraries Association which includes the eleven libraries in Columbia County will be partnering with Our Community Cares Columbia County to collect items to help support cancer patients.
From September 15 through October 16, the Valatie Free Library will be collecting items for Our Community Cares Columbia County to be given to cancer patients in hospitals in the County. Please help! You can drop off items during library hours throughout the month. Following is a list of suggested items.
Suggested Comfort Bag Wish List
- Lap Blankets
- Hats, Fuzzy Socks, Mittens, Gloves
- Crayons/Colored Pencils, Adult Coloring Books, Pens
- Unscented Lotion
- Lip Balm
- Drinking Cups with Straws
- Travel-size Tissues
- Inspirational items such as cards, books, magnets, and memo pads
- Puzzle Books, Playing Cards, Crossword Books, Journals
- Emery Boards
- Chewing Gum
NOTE: Please join us in the Library on Wednesday, October 6th between 5 and 7 p. m. to make cards to be placed in the comfort bags. Sarah Bailey will be here to guide us in making cards, and supplies will be provided. If you use a Cricut machine and prefer to create your cards on that, we will have two here or you can bring your own. Masks are required and will be provided if needed.
