WEEK 1 – JUNE 23 – 29

June 26th Wed. at the Martin H. Glynn Building – MiSci (Museum of Innovation and Science, Schenectady) Programs:

  • 3:30 – 4:15 Engineering Mission – Design Your Own Moon Vehicle. Grades 3 – 5
  • 4:30, 5:30, 6:30 p.m. 3 Starlab Planetarium Shows with a maximum attendance of 25 each. All Ages.


June 28th Friday 11a.m. – 12 p.m.-Papier-mâché Planets.  Help Ms. Lauren create planets from Papier-mâché to decorate the Library for summer!  Prepare to get messy!  All Ages!

WEEK 2 – JUNE 30 – JULY 6

July 2nd Tuesday at 1 p.m.  Design a Mars Habitat and Eating in Space with Sarah Fiess of Tech Valley High School.  Grades 2 – 6
July 5th Friday 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Paint the Planets! Help Ms. Lauren paint/decorate our now dry Papier-mâché planets for our library.  All Ages Welcome.

WEEK 3 – JULY 7 – JULY 13

July 10th Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. at the Kinderhook Village Hall. We’re teaming up with Kinderhook Memorial Library to present another planetarium showPlanetarium Adventures presented by Chris Grubb.  “Star Stories” Grades K – 12.
July 12th Friday, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.  Chalk Drawings in the Parking Lot.  Get creative with chalk and add some color to our parking lot.  All Ages!

WEEK 4 – JULY 14 – JULY 20

July 17th Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. Mud Creek Environmental Learning Center presents Astronomy.  For All Ages
July 17th Wed., 6:30 p.m. The Storycrafters present “Wishing on a Star: Adventures in the Story Space.” All Ages!
July 19th Friday, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Splatter Painting Rocks!  Join Ms. Lauren outside on the lawn for this messy activity.  All Ages!

WEEK 5 – JULY 21 – JULY 27

July 23rd Tuesday, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.   Part I of Art with Mary Young.  Ages 8+
July 23rd Tuesday, 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Take Flight with Anita Sanchez.  Children will design their own gliders and mini-helicopters to explore properties of things that fly. Grades K – 4.
July 24th Wednesday, 10a.m. – 12p.m.  Part II of Art with Mary Young.  Ages 8+
July 24th Wednesday, 6:30 p.m.  CMOST presents “Out of this World.”  All Ages!
July 26th Friday, 11a.m. – 12p.m.  Bubbles!  If the weather permits, join us outside the Library.

WEEK 6 – JULY 28 – August 3

July 30th Tuesday, 1 p.m. Brad of Paper Heart Puppets will be here.  Learn to make your own shadow puppets.
July 31st Wednesday, 6:30 p.m. CMOST Program – “Solar Science.”  All ages are welcome.
Aug 2nd Friday, 1:00 p.m. “Look to the Stars” Discover the constellations and make your own. Jill Leinung presenter.

WEEK 7 – August 4 – August 10

August 6th Tuesday, 6:30 p.m.  Join us at St. Luke’s Fellowship Hall for Animal Embassy.  Meet the exotic animals that Chris has rescued this year.  All ages are welcome.
August 7th Wednesday, 10:30 a.m.  Dance of the Moon and Tides with Fran Martino of River Haggie Outdoors.  See how the effect of the tidal Hudson River on fish behavior is associated with phases of the moon.  Ages 8 – 12
August 9th Friday, 10:30 a.m.  Mud Creek presents “Owls of Columbia County.”  All Ages!

WEEK 8 – August 11 – August 17

August 14th Wednesday, 6:30 p.m. Master Magician Doug Bartels returns with “MAGIC.”  All Ages!

PLEASE NOTE: 1) All programs are at the Valatie Free Library / 1036 Kinderhook Street except for the MiSci programs, Chris Grubb and Animal Embassy.  2) Both Story Hour at 10:30 and Lego Building from noon – 5 p.m. meet every Tuesday during the above 8 weeks.
